Barbeque Boss

Barbeque Boss was founded by entrepreneurs, John Radley Barrientos and Banjie Barrientos. Their love and passion for creating and providing excellent food, good company, and quality time with friends and family has been the foundation of the Barbeque Boss since 1999.

The company started out as a small barbeque stand along Duterte Street. It was just a grill-and-go stand with only two employees. To attract customers, employees refer to their customers as “Boss” along the street. You can hear them saying, “Boss, Barbeque! Barbeque Boss!” The name was stuck in their heads, and because of its catchy nature, they derived the name of the company from it and the name Barbeque Boss was born.

The couple handled the day-to-day operations themselves. Banjie is the one responsible for accounting in the restaurant and anything related to finances, while Radley handles all the kitchen operations. In 2006, from an eatery that features a three-peso pork barbeque, Barbeque Boss has grown into a full service restaurant serving grilled barbeques, home-cooked recipes, and sizzling sisig and steaks.

“The transformation from a small barbeque eatery to a full service restaurant was not easy,” Barrientos said, “but having a handful of close friends in the food industry and food-loving kids as food critics made the transition more challenging but ultimately rewarding.”

Aside from the classic barbeque, most of the food on the menu are inspired by the couple’s travels around the Philippines like the Sizzling Sisig of Pampanga and the popular Pinakbet of Ilocos. Other best-sellers on the menu include the stuffed bangus, beef hinalang, spicy beef rolls, and a wide variety of steaks.

Today, Barbeque Boss has 3 Branches in Davao City – the first one being in Elpidio Quirino (beside Tower-Inn), the second in Phoenix Compound (Located in Lanang), and the third in Matina Town Square (in front of Ateneo De Davao University Matina campus).
